Favourite Rave experience!?
Hmmmm, i'm sitting here borred shitless, thinking bout my favourite rave and just wondering what your guys favourite expirence has been..? Mine would have to be Gatecrasher 2002!!!:tripping: :tripping:

Now what bout you?
Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if PacMan affected us as kids, we'd all be running around darkened rooms munching on pills & listening to repetitive music.

Yeah i nearly have to agree with you there Seanny, was talking to Danny (KKF) on weds nite and he was commenting on how bloody fantastic that was. That was my first ever rave and was at the Tivoli which is my fav venue.

But i think i might have to go with Easter A*Jah this year as it was my first RNA experience and i was just in awe of the size and gravity of it. Yoji's first set when he replaced Storm was the highlight of the night i reckon, along with Ed Real. The nu-skooler's went ballistic (big ups to homewrekker) and the trance room was going mental the whole night.

Last year's A*Jah (Nov @ Arena) is a very close tied 2nd just because of the sheer size of the lineup. Having the Overdose Tour (Scot Project, Sakin, Shokk) PLUS the Nukleuz Tour (Nick Sentience, Vinylgrroover) add onto that Cpt Tinrib live show, Max Alien n Marc Smith and that's a ridiculously big line-up. Other tied 2nd is Two Tribes this year (if you can call it a rave). Armin, Junkie XL, Sander K and Slam all massive highlights

I reckon the last A*JAH @ RNA the end of this year will be the best. I'm sure Jason will have something nice up his sleeve

"beat me daddy"

gee this makes a girl think

i guess it would have to be tha time in 1999 when I was covering a party in Sydney called 'Clash of the Titans'. for 3D World Magazine

It was the usual happy hard rave with the likes of chester and fenix playing back to back anthems all night with Nervous popping in every now and then to play a decent track or two. Some MC Callum from Ultimate Buzz was 'Guest' MC for the night and he only seemed to know two lines :

"Let me see your hands in the fuckin air"

and

"Whistle Crew - In the House!!!"

I had to stay all night til the bitter end where I was left stranded @ Michael Fenix' house which is something NO Mother ever wants to find their Daughter doing (I got out after telling him a story about a psychadaelic chicken and a lawn mower (*TRUTH*), and proceeded to bore/mind-fuck him to sleep when I called a cab)..

Oh! The highlight of the night?

Upon entry, I proceed directly to the lavs and come in just in time to see two 12 year old girls (they told me this information repeatedly), SO fucked up on speed that they couldn't keep their heads still... and they're chatting away on full throttle about how they're only 12 and this is their FAVOURITE party SO FAR.....

I decided to leave this part of the evening OUT of the piece that went to press because for the life of me i STILL don't know what to think about it.
Buy the ticket, take the ride.

oh ditto to that!!

bout 30,000 people in and around the boiler room hands in the air feeling the love. I remember closing my eyes putting my hands in the air then turning around and all i could see was hands for like a kilometre back. If there is a heaven i swear that's what it would be like because as soon as the first part of the song kicked in they put about a million white lights on and bang dun dum dun

I actually don't have a "favorite rave" as you call it....but some outstanding ones are A*jah with Fatboy Slim, SFD and out of all the BDO, the one with Crystal Method, Basement Jaxx, Kosheen and Jurassic 5 (last years?) please forgive my bad memory, alot has happened since then :p

And my very first rave deserves a honorable mention - can't remember much from it but I had a great time!

Each and every one of 'em! I've had a total ball at every one I've been to. And really it had nothing to do with who was playing. For me, it's always the people I'm with.

If I had to pick 1, it'd be Advent*jah November 2001.

nasa and elements
Nasa parties and the elements parties were the best i've ever been a part of here in Brisbane. Hardware in Melbourne was definately amazing as woz Halcyon Knights on new years 99 i think. Too many others to mention but these were the highlights that will stand out for many years to come. The original energy of rave has been replaced with seriousness and too many drugs in my opinion. I woz lucky enough to experience the last little bit of this energy thru all the old skool ravers i met when i first started in 95. Max respect and love to all that were there in the early 90s both in bris and overseas u were truly lucky to be part of something so new and exciting.
Remember who u really are! Remember who u were as a kid, that is the real u, the truth, no matter what society tries to tell u.

"Big Love" in the ol Coles Building (where Optus is now)would have to rank amongst my faves. To this day I still have not seen anything as mindblowing as the Tracey Rose Laser Show. The place had a masivley high roof and the mirrored and fibre optic "butterfly" suit she wore took me fuckin head off.

Also Southend played live and um.... DJ's I cannot remember off the top of my head...I still got the ol flyer at my folks place I think. I wonder if that terrible last shot from the 7:30 report is still floating around anywhere on tape. Very distrurbing seing yourself after a party sitting on the floor with a vicks-stick in one had and gesturing to the cameraperson for a lighter with the other.....hahahaha :tripping: And I not even gonna beging with the pissing incident, I still have nightmares to this day about that one

Amazing that it was a show that makes the standing mark.

Also notable's go to I think it was NASA 2 with Cosmic Baby, who can forget him smashin away on the ol keyboard as the legs were giving way beneath it.....lower and lower he went over the course of the set. And Platipus Sound System is up there at Progression, and the first time Lab4 played at the Arena at Recharge last year.

Proably REANIMATOR actually. That was the first rave wher eI knew lots of people - so I was bouncing all over the place and feeling the love... and certain chemical contributions to my sense of wellbeing were putting me into orbit that night.

But between a couple of stomping sets (overall the night wasn't really all that musically - but Mchale's set in particular was fan-freakin-tastic) and the sense of love in every direction? I was on another planet that night.

Before that? probably underworld at BDO.

I could mention a whole bunch from when I arrived in Brisbane in 1996- Advent*jah with Misjah, Creation4Television, Superstition Halloween with Marmion & Mr. C, Digital Overdose- and there have been lots of memorable smaller parties & doofs since, but if "Rave"=large venue+large crowdxcommercial bias, then to my mind the only 2 worth mentioning are.....

Progression with the Platipus Sound System, Arena 2000: because every room at that event had the highest quality of sound- in both senses- I felt a tinge of regret having to leave each one, only to find the next was just as if not more appealing; this was the commercial party that restored my faith in commercial parties, and the exact opposite of what drove me away into doof in the years before.

and.....

Circus-X with Oliver Lieb, Arena NYE 2000/2001: for obvious reasons

Jeff Mills Friday 13th party was pretty cool also, as was all the early Creations, Nasa, Bent (anyone remember those!), Adrenalin, Thunderdome 1+2, Hellraiser, Northern Exposure, Essensual feat Armand Van Helden, Digital Overdose was incredible, early Adventjahs, Volume, Immortality, the list goes on and on.......

those raves that had mainroom music that progressed musically through out the night, had a dedicated psy/trance room, had a hardcore room, had the breaks OUTSIDE the roxy and a full blown chillroom were the best parties i remember

yer me spewin i missed this! real tech-trance!
The one's since then have been great awesome. Steve Gibbs (01/02) was phonominal and the warmup set from Brissy's best Prog dj Peter Mogg was unfarkinbelievable! And then Jimmy Hill (02/03) was farkin fantastic too. had been a while since i had experienced the mainroom of the Arena with such quality Trance.

Other's that deserve mention (in no particular order):
Creation with Ferry Corsten (end of an era!)
Creation with Nick Warren (4hr set)
Summer Advent*jah 2001 (The Orb, Sander Klienenberg, Colin Tevendale, Armin van Buuren!, unfortunate Parks & Wilson didn't make it)
Easter Advent*jah 2001 (Matt Darey LIVE with Marcella)
Summer Advent*jah 2002 Night1 (Nu-skool room rawked it!)
Paul Oakenfold @ Technomad 2000 (c'n Oakey in a small intimate club for $30, exclusive)
Perfecto World Tour - Sounds on Sunday (Sydney, April 2003. mmm more Oakenfold )
Ultra-sonic @ Arena 2002 (that energy was immense. and every1 knew all the words)
Two Tribes 2002 (Tiesto and J00F need i say more )

there's more, but my memory has decided to stop working

One time i was walking out of the arena, and someone tried to give me a flier, i declined, then changed my mind and decided to take the flier, that was a pretty cool moment.

Mobile Home at Bondi Beach for New Years 2000 will always hold a special place in my heart. Love Nation 2001 was pretty awesome, cant believe i might have met littlemisslia way back then.

Fav Brisbane rave would be a Mayday System 6 with Hixxy about 2 years back, one of the best night for so many reasons that i forgot about.

I didn't mention this one because I don't consider the Tube to have been a large venue, but that was a very busy night.....

Thank you. That's party I'm talking about I remember Pocket playing live and I think Infusion played as Outfission, not sure. I was there for the hardcore and was my one and only time out the back of the Tube, which was really good. I will never forget when i left at 5am and seeing the main room covered in foam!

I think his name was Christian Smith? He played a very tribally type set at Hardware. I wasn't into the music that night but it was interesting to hear something different, though Kazu played a really good set.
