In the style of Microsoft’s classic game “Age of Empires”, Big Huge Game Studios and Microsoft have created the highly anticipated real-time strategy game “Rise of Nations”. Over 6000 years of historical warfare is at your fingertips enabling you to rewrite history.
Choose between 18 different civilizations, each of whom posses specific advantages over the rest, to set forth in your quest for world domination. Lead your army through eight periods in history, from the Ancient Age to the Information Age, with over 50 different technologies to research in your attempt to stay ahead of your opponents.
Expand your empire by developing more cities to increase your nation’s borders and allow production of more military personal, improved economic development and greater resource gathering.
“Rise of Nations” however is not based solely on combat and war. Make diplomatic alliances with other civilisations and trade between different cities and your allies to expand your military strength and presence on the world map.
Single player “Conquer the World” campaign allows you to test your true might against all who stand before you. Begin in the Ancient Age and gradually start to conquer different territories, each of which posses tributes, increased powers and access to 32 rare resources. Games spanning centuries take just 90 minutes.
Create your own battle scenario to rage war on up to seven different opponents. Set the rules of engagement and take on enemy in the scenario of your choosing. Choose the elimination style, the rush rules, population and teams & allies to make it a great gaming experience. Really test your skills against up to seven opponents online via the internet and local area network, including in-game matchmaking which allows you to pick up games against others waiting for a challenge.
Three zoom scales provide a great overview of your nation; whether it is up close to keep an eye on your immediate position or further out for a broader view of the surrounding areas. Units and buildings are not compromised in the three zoom levels – all offer great detail and clarity. The game includes 220 unit types, with more than 500 artistically distinct variations based on gender, race and era. All are detailed to perfection so they can be easily identified.
This game is a must for all gamers out there.
