Whatever you do, stop converting back to the Aussie dollar! Yes, you will pay ludicrous cover charges and $20 for a beer once inside, but you can’t put a price on the experiences you’ll have amongst the world’s most beautiful and committed clubbers. There’s something tantalising about standing at a bar and hearing different languages all around you. You’ll encounter enough whingeing Poms on the White Isle so resist the urge to jump aboard the boring bandwagon of complaining about prices, so start thinking in Euros.

Get a head-start with pre-drinks in your room as you can find bottles of vodka quite cheaply in the supermarkets. The water is undrinkable from the taps (it will make you sick), so stock your fridge full of the largest bottles of water you can cram in. Pick up some breakfast ingredients while you’re at it, as there will be times when leaving the room is too painful, but your concave stomach will be crying out for nourishment. Learn to love the disco buses for transport to the venue. You can save your much-needed Euros for the journey home in a cab when your legs have given out. It’s also a great way to meet people headed to the same destination.
