Knowing It’s Time For Bed

This may sound like a no-brainer, but pacing yourself is definitely the key. Get a quick run-down of who’s playing where and when as soon as you arrive, then prioritise which DJs are a must-see. Keep in mind it’s good to experience a cross-section of venues, as certain club nights will define your ‘Ibiza Experience’. Know your own limits, and if you start nodding off in a club or develop an unexplained facial tic… it’s time to call it a night/day!

One particular bed-dodger (let’s call him Derrick) went hard for the first four days of his holiday, sometimes on solo missions. Emerging from Space, Derrick was spotted on Bora Bora beach dancing to the sound of his own private drum-beat. His face was covered in sand and he was sporting a diamante choker (not from his personal collection). People told Derrick he looked like he was enjoying himself, but he was afflicted with zero recollection. For the remainder of the holiday he was confined to bed, completely lost his voice, and missed out on highlights like We Love Space and Manumission.

Stick to your guns and don’t get ‘missing out’ syndrome. Every night of the week presents a plethora of sonic lures, and it’s often a struggle to decide which club to surrender to. You’d have to clone yourself to go to every party that tickles your fancy. Be prepared to sit a few out and recharge the batteries, but don’t be too hard on yourself if your intended ‘quiet night’ turns into one of those spontaneous benders.
