Have you ever had a day when you wished you were your own boss, making money for yourself and not anyone else? Have you ever had a fantastic idea that you think will make you rich?
This 2 DVD set, The Entrepreneurs, features some of the big names of Australian businesses which have been prominent in the news as up and coming in the past few years. Names such as Wagamama, Sumo Salad, Mimco, Napoleon Cosmetics and Jayson Brunson. The series takes a look at how the entrepreneurs of these 12 businesses featured came up with their idea, their start up days and strategies. It also gives insight into the entrepreneurs themselves as people, and examines what it is that drives them. Previously shown on Foxtel, there are 6 episodes in this series.
I liked this series because it wasnt just a marketing ploy for the brands. They actually detailed specifics relating to running a business and each of the entrepreneurs had good tips to give (although, I must admit that anyone with a business background has heard it before). I liked how they featured different businesses giving a broad insight into the business world for example, Wotif.com (which just floated on the ASX); Fernwood Fitness Centres (relatively matured franchise); Napoleon Cosmetics (a more mature business branching out into the USA market) and Jayson Brundson, Model Co, Red Balloon (young businesses).
This stories are motivational and one could be spurred on by the motivation and drive each of these entrepreneurs had. One of the things that did come out of the series seems that most of these entrepreneurs has it in their blood. Although, that is not to say that you have to be born with it.
I would recommend this if you are interested in setting up your own business, or if you are interested in business generally. I noticed that some of the entrepreneurs on this series have been speakers at some seminars/functions that I have been invited to before and I imagine they may be talking about the same thing! So, in effect you get 12 for the price of 1!
Extras profiles of and tips from each of the featured entrepreneurs.
