Melbourne International Film Festival is fast approaching and in just over two months Melbourne’s inner city cinemas and theatres will become home to film lovers across the city.
This year, MIFF will be presenting over 200 new feature titles, some of which will fall into new slots and others will sit within MIFF’s old favourites under new guises.
Nineteen days only is their tag line this year. Nineteen days to indulge in a programme that will challenge, delight, provoke and enrage. Don’t let these nineteen days pass you by.
New for 2007
This year, MIFF is presenting Next Gen – a programme of films for the younger film fan, offering them the opportunity to become Festival-goers. The programme has been brought together from many different countries, deliberately designed to expose our next gens to a wide variety of languages and cultures.
The cinema of Africa is experiencing a renaissance. Africa! Africa! looks at the last few years of African cinema to bring you films from over the African continent.
Israeli cinema has undergone resurgence in the last few years, both with domestic audiences and on the international festival circuit. A selection of Israeli features and documentaries will screen in Stars of David.
Indigenous peoples from around the world tell their own stories in their own way. World Stories presents international highlights and the best of Australia’s own indigenous filmmakers.
