The Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) announced that Michael Moore’s latest offering Sicko, which had its world premiere at last month’s Cannes Film Festival will open the 2007 Festival.

“Sicko proves the power of documentary to place important issues on the social and political agenda, and this is Mike Moore in vintage form. Sicko is brilliant in its execution, full of humour and intelligence,.&rdqu o; said new Executive Director of the festiavl – Richard Moore.

A copy of the Complete Festival Guide is free with The Age on Friday 13 July. From this day you will be able to buy tickets to all films via the MIFF site, or by calling the MIFF Box Office on 03 9662 3722. Tickets can also be purchased in person from the MIFF Box Office at the Forum Theatre (154 Flinders Street) from Saturday 14 July. Box Office hours are 11am -7pm daily.
