The BBC website reports that a UK man has been jailed for two years for spiking his estranged wife’s coffee with drugs. Peter Varey, 32, of Brompton in the UK, broke into the woman’s house and mixed 3 grams of amphetamine and cannabis with her coffee granules.

During his hearing, the Court heard how Varey had planned to demand a drug test to prove his estranged wife was unfit to have their two children. He pleaded guilty to burglary and administering a noxious substance. The 32-year-old also admitted harassment and criminal damage.

Varey’s victim was unhurt, but the judge said that what he had done could have been “life-threatening”.
