Although Tron Legacy still ranks at the top of our (imaginary) most wanted movies list in 2010 with its slobberingly anticipated Daft Punk composed soundtrack, another film that has undoubtedly got us hot under our Elvin cloaks is Christopher Nolan’s gorgeous-looking Inception.
Any film fan worth their salt will know that of course Nolan is the British visionary behind Momento and the recent reboot of the Batman franchise with Batman Begins and 2008’s The Dark Knight, so pretty much anything from him is guaranteed to be both entertaining and innovative. From a first look at Inception however, it would seem as though Nolan has outdone himself.
Following protagonist Dom Cobb, Leonardo Di Caprio, a fugitive with the ability to steal secrets from peoples minds who’s on the path to redemption with one final heist. Whilst we’re still trying to wrap our heads around the plot, what has us most enthralled by Inception is the film’s grand scope and Nolan’s signature ambitious approach to filmmaking. Landmarks topple, worlds collapse, gravity is negated and like the tagline boasts ‘the dream is real’. Much like he did with the camp and tarnished image of Batman, Nolan has seemingly made something completely fanciful seem authentic, and we love him for that.
With just one week to go (!) until Inception’s July 22nd Australian release date – if you haven’t yet, mark it down in your Bratz diaries, ITMers! – we’re pumping up the excitement level with some Inception goodies here in the Lifestyle section.
