After the massive success of Borat and the sort-of success of Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen has returned this year with his latest feature film, The Dictator. According to the film’s PR, it’s “the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed”: so basically, it’s the typical Baron Cohen mockumentary. Which also means it’s a pretty safe bet that The Dictator is going to be awesome.
This time around, Cohen plays Admiral General Aladeen, a dictator from the (fictitious) nation the Republic of Wadiya. Admiral General Aladeen is a piss-take of former Libyan dictator Gaddafi, who of course was killed in October of last year, but was alive when the script was being written. We won’t reveal too much more about the film – instead, check out the ITM-exclusive clip of The Dictator below.
The Dictator is screening nationally now.
