So the Golden Globes this year were a total anti-climax given the Writers’ Guild strike that’s currently going on in Hollywood.
The three hour spectacle was replaced by a half hour press conference without a celebrity in sight and there’s talk that this might happen to the Oscars too. But that’s not dampening Cate Blanchett’s spirits – she won best supporting actress for playing Bob Dylan in I’m Not There. She was the only Australian to bring home a Golden Globe.
Rachel Griffiths was nominated for her role in Brothers & Sisters and Rose Byrne was nominated for Damages – but both missed out. Cate was also nominated for best actress in a film drama category for her role in Elizabeth: The Golden Age, but this was awarded to Julie Christie.
