Former Mr Gay UK winner Anthony Francis Morley (pictured with finalists at the 1993 Mr Gay UK competition) was recently remanded in custody charged with stabbing to death Damian Oldfield, 33, an advertising manager who ironically worked for All Points North, the company which runs the beauty pageant as well as Bent magazine and Leeds’ Mission Club. The Yorkshire Evening Post said cops raided Mr Morley’s house after he spoke out of turn to staff at a local Chinese restaurant, discovering pieces of the victim’s legs in a pot on the cooker. “Horrified detectives then found a diced up section of flesh on a kitchen worktop which had been cooked,” the paper added.

Huddersfield Examiner columnist Terry George set up a condolence site for Damian this week and described in moving detail the impact amongst Damian’s colleagues. “Michael had to gather all our staff together to deliver the dreadful news. There has never been such a sad quiet, day in our normally buzzing and vibrant office. When I returned and walked into the building and saw his empty desk I could hardly hold back the tears – he was a person so full of life who always had a quip for everyone; It hit me so powerfully how fragile life is,” he wrote.

Anthony Morley won the first Mr Gay UK contest in 1993, going on to make a couple of guest appearances at Pride and other events before sinking into obscurity. Pink News reported that he didn’t ask for bail at his initial court hearing.
