Never one to shy away from a controversial sound-bite, Oasis man Liam Gallagher has given The Times a piece of his mind in a typically amusing interview. Targets of his disdain include fans of Radiohead and Coldplay, the paparazzi and new music in general.

Despite telling the paper he’s toned back on rock ‘n roll excesses (namely booze and cocaine), Gallagher makes it clear he isn’t a big girl’s blouse. “Yeah, I’ve mellowed, but not in the sense of liking Radiohead or Coldplay,” he quips. “I don’t hate them. I don’t wish they had accidents. I think their fans are boring and ugly and they don’t look like they’re having a good time.”

The man is also “not interested” in contemporary artists. “I play the Beatles, the Stones, the Kinks, Neil Young, the Pistols. Maybe a bit of the Roses. Don’t like modern bands. Topman music, innit?” What might surprise Oasis observers is that Gallagher doesn’t believe the band has ever made a lacklustre album. “Just ’cos [brother] Noel and a couple of divvy journalists think that doesn’t mean it’s right. I think all our records are great.”
