If Brian McFadden had a gay following before, he certainly doesn’t now. Happy to cash in on the pink dollar for years since his days in boy band Westlife, he slammed gay men on New Zealand radio this morning, voicing some oddly strong opinions during a debate about whether or not men should wear pink.
“Traditionally boys used to be dressed in pink,” said Alice, a listener who had phoned in to take part in the debate. “Yes in San Francisco and Sydney,” chuckled Brian. “Red was considered a masculine colour and pink was a derivative of red, and little girls were actually dressed in blue,” continued the caller. “Saying that pink is a form of red is the same as saying that homosexual is a form of male,” ranted Brian. “In the old days there was no such thing as gay, it was frowned upon, the church would burn you at the stake… Modern day, a man should not be wearing pink.”

We suppose the same gay connotations don’t apply to men wearing teal, with bleached hair, singing ‘Uptown Girl’... with four other guys?
