Mount Isa Mayor John Molony was criticised recently after he called for ‘ugly’ women to relocate to the remote mining town to take advantage of the disproportionate number of men to single women. “With five blokes to every girl, may I suggest that beauty-disadvantaged women should proceed to Mount Isa,” the Mayor told local newspaper the Townsville Bulletin. “Really, beauty is only skin deep. Isn’t there a fairy tale about an ugly duckling that evolves into a beautiful swan,” he added.
Mayor Malony defended himself against charges of sexism insisting he was only ‘telling it like it is’ and insisted ‘happiness awaits’ any female moving there. His comments emerged as Bristol University researchers announced that the ‘beer goggles’ effect of fancying others after drinking alcohol, genuinely exists, with 1 and a half pints often being enough for the effect to kick in. “Alcohol consumption increases ratings of attractiveness of facial stimuli,” the scientists told the Daily Mail. “In addition, the effects of alcohol consumption on ratings of attractiveness persist for up to 24 hours after consumption but only in male participants when rating female faces,” they added.

Good on him for being honest and lets face it the pretty girls from Bimbo Nation aren't exactly going to have a field day let alone survive Mount Isa but maybe the less fortuante in the looks would not really give two hoots about living in the middle of nowhere...
