9 out of 10 British men hate themselves undressed, and four out of five ‘have no confidence about their looks’, a new survey published last week by slimming pill company Sendex revealed. Beer bellies and love handles cause men most anxiety, followed by man boobs, stumpy legs and receding hair. “Men have just as many body hang-ups as woman,” a Sendex spokesperson told Metro.

Etiquette bible Debretts, meanwhile, suggested that ‘eating like the upper classes’ and sitting up straight could help tackle Britain’s exploding obesity epidemic, principally by helping modern Brits to slow down their eating. “Good table manners are about being aware of your fellow diners: not speaking with your mouth full, using the correct cutlery, not having your elbows on the table,” said Jo Bryant, editor of Debrett’s A-Z of Modern Manners. “... it all helps you to pace yourself,” she told the Daily Telegraph.

However, pacing yourself could make little difference to enthusiasts of Mo’s Bacon Bar, which went on sale on top UK department store Selfridges recently. The world’s first bacon-flavoured chocolate bar sold out within two days, the Daily Mail reported, prompting Selfridges to ‘urgently seek more’ from its American producers. “Bacon and chocolate sounds like a strange combination, but the execution is fantastic,” Ewan Venters, food and restaurant director at Selfridges told the Daily Mail. “It’s a real explosion of flavours and people love it,” he added.
