Clubbing in Brisbane isn’t just confined to the Valley. Every Friday and Saturday night, the Unity Nightclub at the refurbished New Hotel Metropole in Ipswich hosts crowd-pleasers like The Stafford Brothers, Danny T, Baby Gee and Habebe. It’s not where you go to stroke your chin, but Unity certainly fits the bill when you’re out to cut loose.

A storied institution of Brisbane, The Zoo welcomes one and all to its dancefloor. With a few key philosophies like ‘we don't have a dress code’, ‘we don’t serve rum’ and ‘we are a please and thank you venue’, you can see why The Zoo endures.
The list of acts to have graced its stage would be truly exhaustive, and electronic music is a strong presence (although much more on the live side of things than DJs). The Caribou and Four Tet double-bill was a 2011 highlight, and the year keeps on buzzing with Miami Horror, Odd Future and Datarock. Memories made at The Zoo are clearly what all Brisbane music-lovers have in common.
