Dj Tomcraft aka Thomas Brukner has been wooing crowds in Europe with his sound for the last 6 years. As both a renowned producer and acclaimed Dj, Tomcraft has forged a path into the hall of fame of German electronic acts and currently is making his impression on the rest of the world. With more than 20 artist releases and uncountable remix’s Tomcraft’s efforts are always at the forefront of European electronic music. His latest release, Loneliness is no exception to that rule, taking the number one position on the UK dance charts.

Loneliness comes as a 3-mix release with a Club mix by Tomcraft, a Benny Benassi mix and a MUC remix. Essentially the track can be described as trance, it’s uplifting with a driving beat and a huge lead synthesiser sound. There is a lovely vocal supplied by Vivian, Tomcrafts resident vocalist, which sets a nice mood in the track. It isn’t the most moving of vocals lyrically but it does add to the groove. The release opens with a pretty driving beat and some acid-esque guitar sounds that introduce the sound well. The track is by no means on the harder sound of dance music and actually comes across quite groovy, this is a very dance floor friendly track.

On the Club mix the sound has a strong trance influence with a big sleazy synth line coming into the mix. The structure is 4/4 and this particular mix has a few little build up rolls to add to the dance floor compatibility. The bass line is much like the sounds of electro and bubbles away in the background. The vocal is crisp and fitting and carries the track well. There is a particularly nice break halfway through that gives the track a driving sound that is accentuated once the lead synth breaks back into the mix.

Benny Benassi’s take on Loneliness is absolutely kicking, taking the sound from the original mix and pumping it up for the dance floor seems to be the theme here. The beats have been reworked sounding punchier. The structure is essentially the same with the big synth leading the assault. The vocals come in earlier on this mix and take the track in the same direction. The only real difference in this mix is the punchier beat and streamlined structure.

The MUC remix of Loneliness is my favourite, taking the trance sound of the original mix and reworking it into a broken electro sounding release complete with octave changes, a bubbly electro bass line and filtered vocals. This mix is reminiscent of Ficherspooner or Chicken Lips releases. The tempo is down a little on the first two mixes but this helps to carry the mood due to its electro nature.

Overall I thought this was a really solid release, all three mixes are would suit different dance floor situations and I believe add to the value of this single. The electro/trance combination works on many different levels and has proven to be a hit across the world with Loneliness hitting number one on many dance charts.
