The two tracks on this 12 are rather impressive mixes of Melou Melou. The A side, mixed by La Someone is a electro tinged breaky remix. Its bubbly electro bass line sits well over the electro styled beat and a smooth synth rhythm adds to the atmosphere. The track slowly builds with the introduction of the African vocal synonymous with Galliano’s recent works with the African Diva’s; some lovely strings, which really set the mood, join this. The track has slight techno influences yet still holds a groovy downbeat feel. There is not too much deviation from the meat of the track other than a small vocal breakdown toward the end.

On the B-side The Youngsters have their take of Melou Melou with a tribal, percussive house mix. Dubbed out vocals set up a smooth rhythm for this slow progressing track. A very groovy tech house bass line fills the tracks well while groovy sound effects sit in the background setting the atmosphere. Occasionally the bass drops out which sort of rekindles the groove once it kicks back in. Around two thirds of the way into the track the original chanting vocal re-emerges for a brief while until it slowly fades back out into the tribal rhythms.

Overall both tracks a really impressive, the Youngsters mix is more dance floor friendly but the La Someone mix has a really good groove to it. Both tracks are suited to different situations so it’s quite a useful single for those who like to mix up their sounds.
