Gigolo have made a name for themselves by taking semi-familiar 80s sounds then twisting them out of all proportion: rather like the phalluses which grace the figures on the cover of this surprise-packed three-tracker.

Atomizer are Jonny Melton and Fil Jones. Jonny, aka Johnny Slut,was a member of the KLF and when he’s not out looking after his sought after London club night NagNagNag or molesting NME journalists, he’s producing tracks which punters are turning to with increasing enthusiasm. Hooked on Radiation is one of them.

The A’s Bad Boy Mix fuses electro, punk beats and synth riffs with loads of effects for flat beat and freaky sound enthusiasts. It could be a little crisper – for full effect (especially at 3am) – but that’s what the flip side’s for.

Dance doyens, the Pet Shop Boys, take their turn with the Orange Alert Mix, stripping down the edit and warping the track’s scatty, tripped out vocals.

The pick however comes from Atomizer’s Punx Sound Check Mix. Reworked by the guys themselves, you’ll find the same tune dressed with crisp lows and high notes and a slower beat – all the better to get your freak on to. Nice work.
