Released on breaks heavyweight Rennie Pilgrem’s TCR label, this two-track offering packs a range of sounds fans will find accessible, but which more diverse vinyl hounds will find somewhat predictable with the 12”s plethora of effects, riffs and breakdowns characteristic of most new school breakbeat.

The A side’s Further starts atmospherically and builds – slowly – with an appreciable breakdown that works well as a filler. On the flip, Further (General Midi’s House Mix) is the pick and reflects the producer’s background in the house-breakbeat group Starecase. Softer sounds melded with strong basslines and the same soaring atmospherics make this record a reasonable buy for someone seeking to flesh out their collection. Just don’t expect too many main floor antics to stem from this, though.
