Being a big fan of all things chilled and relaxed I was quite happy to receive a mix CD by the one and only Ron Trent. A man with huge credentials, but is unknown by the masses. His Bio states that he’s been DJing since the age of nine and by age 15 was spinning along side the greats of Chicago’s massive house music seen. This shows, as it is reflective in this album, Deep and Sexy 2.

Having not heard any of the tracks before I was interested to know what they were and what they sounded like, and I was not let down. His track selection is perfect for the ambient chilled fan as it takes you on a musical journey in your mind conjuring up warm summer afternoons and sunsets on the beach.

The mixing is as top notch as it is flawless, each beat and rhythm melds together helping to create the picture in your mind and the transitions of where your heading next. I sat down with lights off and lay on my bed. I saw myself walk down to the beach along its shore down to a café sit at the bar have a few drinks then walk home back along the beach and sit and watch the sun set. Powerful emotive music created this picture in my mind. This is what you get throughout the entire CD.

The CD is a collection of cuts from the Wave music stable which is renowned for its ambient grooves and beats but also has some additions from other labels which help compliment and complete the package. The mix features several well known producers and musicians such as MSD, Matheius Helibronn and Carlos “Go Go” Gomez.

Alphamotive are also in amongst it with there song Better Day which I think is the pick of the CD. It has a fusion of jazz sounds and deep house grooves layered with a haunting female vocal over the top. Several unreleased tracks also indulge the listener including an unreleased song by Onda entitled Waiting for you and several unreleased mixes including Aurora by Chari Chari.

This is defiantly a CD I’d recommend to any fan of all sounds ambient, chilled and deep. It will be in my player for a long time to come and I think is perfect after that long day at work or just sitting around with friends passing the time away.
