Trigger is an electro/breaks club night that has been running in Birmingham, England since 1998. A long time in this business. This event has seen key performers in the electro/breaks scene including the likes of B.L.I.M., Rennie Pilgrem, Freq Nasty, Si Begg and Deekline.

Holographic Bass Forms is an album inspired by this club night. It will be released on CD and as 5 LP samplers and features the work of many who have performed at Trigger

The first sampler is set for release on 6th October and features two tracks on the harder end of the spectrum. Spoonbender by Rennie Pilgrem & B.L.I.M is on the whole an unremarkable breaks track. Its generic synth work appears to be inspired from a bad cheeky euro-trance track. On the flipside, Skool Of Thought’s Turn It Up is just as flat. This time an organic snare drum stirs the beat and a tired and cliché vocal loop advises “turn this mutherf*cker up”.

The second sampler is set for release on 17th October. These two tracks are much more stimulating and appealing that the pervious sampler. Si Begg’s Trigger is definitely the pick of the bunch here with its deep, downbeat, dubby, catchy, electronica inspired electro computer-tech groove (what a mouthful!). Future Funk Squad’s Lost In Time is more dance floor friendly with its upbeat movement. The messed-up tech that gets squeezed and pulled into pitch offers a complexity that works well.
