After teasing us with it for the past year Adam Freeland has finally gone and released what has now become a breakbeat anthem. Whilst not new to releasing a killer dancefloor track or two (as half of Psunami One he released the epic Hip Phenomena) We Want Your Soul seems destined to be the one to have the crossover appeal.
We Want Your Soul is Freeland’s first foray into lyric writing, something which he claims to have come up with in just 45 minutes one day. At it’s simplest it’s a killer breaks track with a catchy Bill Hicks sample in the middle. The motivation behind the lyrics though are a venting of Freeland’s frustration and anger at the greed and consumerism by which we’re being told to live our lives by big corporations, especially in America.
If you haven’t heard this track by now simply turn on your radio to Triple J and hear it as it does it’s spin on high rotation. If you think you’re heard it too many times remember back to that first time you heard it out and you can’t deny it as a class tune.
Remixes on offer are by Infusion, Ed Rush & Optical and Product 01. Personal preference see’s be heading towards Infusion but really none of them compare or offer anything to beat the power of the original mix. Also included is the video which is a must see.
