(Mantra Breaks)
A: Sabot (The Very Original Mix)
B: Sabot (Drumattic Twins Remix)

I doubt that I’m the first to say it, and I hopefully won’t be the last, but I’d like to go on record stating that Sabot is one hell of a cool tune. From Italian label Mantra Breaks, Santos has been a rather busy producer of late, with a growing list of tracks and remixes to his name (No Ticket No Run being the best example).

Sabot was originally released over a year ago on Santos’ Pandemonio EP (along with No Ticket No Run). This limited edition re-release sees Santos add further touches with The Very Original Mix, as well as calling upon the Drumattic Twins to give their interpretation.

The Very Original Mix, while still breakbeat, has a housier vibe. I’m in love with the New Order style guitar riff throughout, with a deep bassline complimenting the track nicely. Drumattic Twins have also come through with the goods on their mix, definitely a breakier affair. The breakdown/build-up isn’t as satisfying, but I don’t think the mix needs it as it’s a little more stripped back than the Very Original Mix.

My pick of the two is The Very Original Mix, it’s diverse enough in sound to fit into both a breaks and house set. My only fear is that with this release being limited to 1000 copies, not enough people will get to hear it!

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
