(Valve/Inertia)
Dillinja & Lemon D are two of the finest DnB producers going around and in Valve have a label respected by all, so what better way for them to release a compilation than of their own works on their own label. Buckle up folks their about to take you to the dark side.
When you think of Dillinja & Lemon D you think big bad rolling basslines that will rock dance floors worldwide, that would scare LTJ Bukem, so big in fact that they built their own set up for DJ’ing on (the Valve sound system) just to do the beats justice and this folks is a sample of what they have to offer. Not only do you get two discs of music but a bonus DVD and that for me spells value, but I digress to the tracks.
Basically this is a collection of some of their most recent works in either unmixed (ready for all you CD DJ’s) or mixed (perhaps a suggested playlist) form. The track listing does vary slightly in order as on the mix they recreate the order they would play their sounds in out live. The sounds are straight up dancefloor orientated DnB and there is no mistaking the quality of tunes from their vocal numbers like Hands in the air, Good Girl & Afterlife the latter featuring Michelle Gayle they show vocals don’t have to equal cheese and in the mix format these are positioned well at the start, middle & end of the set to break up the bowel shaking bass. The true highlights for me however are the tracks you can just picture hearing drop and the dancefloor going nuts, tracks like Generation X, Ride With Us & Fast Car just scream to be dropped in a peak time set and show why both Dillinja & Lemon D are in demand worldwide for both DJ sets and as eager DJ’s anticipate their next release.
My only gripe with the album is you get the same songs twice. Now I am never going to DJ out so Disc one for me is a touch of a waste and could have been easily replaced with another ten or fifteen track mix but then I suppose that’s kind of selfish on behalf and for every person like me there is a bedroom (or big name) DJ thankful for the chance to rock a crowd to the Valve sounds. DnB fans if you haven’t got it all ready move it to the top of your want list you will be truly satisfied.
