a) Atomic Hooligan – B.T.P. 2 featuring Siren
b) Atomic Hooligan – 6AM Beigel

By now you’re destined to know who Atomic Hooligan are. Having produced a long string of great tracks for a number of years, their name was on everyone’s lips last year with their bootleg mix of Underworld’s Rez and Cowgirl, which led to their authorised remix project of Born Slippy, all top notch tracks. With an album on the horizon, this writer is more than a little excited, if this 12” is anything to go by.

B.T.P. 2 is a tuff and funky breaks track, replete with a repetitive and rolling vocal sample from Siren (backed by some beeping sirens, how appropriate). The bassline chugs, giving the track a ‘rolling’ sound.

6AM Beigel, a homage to late night visits (or should I say early morning?) to London’s notorious Brick Lane Beigel bakery. Taking a more electro path, I really enjoyed the acoustic drum fills. The vocal has a ‘party robot’ theme, and overall I find the track is somewhat understated for its vocal content.

Two very cool tracks, each unique while still retaining the ‘Hooligan-sound’, rolling and irresistibly funky basslines. Here’s hoping they can make it back to Australia in 2004.
