(Dirty/FMR) If there is a simple way of describing this album it is definitely self indulgent. But a review isn’t about simplicity or short summary it’s about dissecting beats, lyrics, samples and melodies like high school kids dissect rats in science class and that’s exactly what I intend to do. This definitely is not what I’d call hip-hop. It is rnb for sure, wack Barry White-esque vocals, singing about chicks in a respectful manner, constantly telling everyone how fucking fabulous he is. Self indulgent, unintelligent, uninspiring and above all unimaginative this is not one for the collection. The subject matter is the same throughout the album, the words I & Me seem to be his favourite. No story telling, nothing too deep. Always about hip hop being his destiny, ladies being his love and coming along way from where he was which really ain’t that bad until it is repeated track after track. Now some of the beats aren’t half bad – I particularly like the beat to Not Many – nice and fat with an air of dominance about it but the lyrics don’t fail to disappoint with more Me, I, I’m better, I’m cooler blah blah blah. But most of the other beats are very soft, slow and very clubby. My Lady is a remix by P-Money who is also responsible for most of the production on the album which I think it takes the cake for worst track on the album. Rapping about how he loves this chick more than his lyrics, shoes and mates, wow, that’s really touching. And that hampster on steroids screaming my lady needs to get back to his little hampster wheel and shut the fuck up. This is a completely insipid, sucky, pointless, stereotypical rnb love song so it may be your thing if you like that kind of stuff. Barely any reference to his hometown earns him no points from me, No accent, No references to home, No cultural elements, Nothing. If anything he has taken a very American, gangsta angle to his music which, if he rolls with bitches and forties and all that wack bling bling shit is great, but seeing that he ‘first and foremost would like to thank god’ in the inside of the album cover I find this unlikely. After re-reading and re-writing this review about six times now I apologise for it’s negativity and the fact that I have nothing nice to say about it but I really didn’t enjoy it and I’m not planning on lying about it. The production and recording is great, he does have some skills yet discredits himself majorly by constantly repeating his subject matter and refusing to think out side the stereotyped square he seems to be living in. Also it really annoys me when people are not representative of their culture or home and don’t even retain their accent when rhyming.
