When Singh came on to the scene with ‘OK’ praises rang loud. He even won the Mercury Music Prize in 1999 for that effort.
‘Ha’ is the follow-up album of ‘OK’. And a miserable one at that. While ‘OK’ was an eclectic mix of east and west rhythms, ‘Ha’ is a boring collection of tabla beats and sombre vocals.
The opening track ‘One’ sets the standard for the rest of the album, although ‘Uphold’ and ‘Abalonia’ stand out from the monotony of it all.
At 75 minutes this CD is too long, and I really really tried to stay up. This CD would be good to put on in the background when you need to drift off to sleep, or when you’ve come home from a tiring night out.
