(EQ/Stomp)
The A-side, Steve May’s original mix, begins with layer after layer of high hats and drums added to a solid kick to build the track into a manically bouncy beat. The production is superb with the beat samples and synths blending seamlessly. It then breaks into a peaceful, chilled early morning kind of melody that relaxes. The track continues to keep itself interesting by the addition of bells, a continually changing high hat line and an eventual minimal melody change that brings home the peaceful sound.
The Luke Chable remix is a progressive breaks remix and it has the sound that has become synonymous with his name. Starting with a solid yet building intro, Chable makes more interesting use of the melody. Before the beat fully kicks in the breakdown hits and shortly thereafter the beat slowly starts to filter back in. The remix’s only downfall is that in trying to structure this track a little differently from the norm the beat takes just a little too long to fully kick in. Unless dropped at the right time it could struggle to hold a dance floor but by no means does this mean it isn’t pleasant to the ear. Towards the last third of the track the bass finally kicks in to create a good solid remix.
Overall, both tracks are standouts in their own niche, moulded by a good melody and great production work. The mixes are just a little sharp but this is likely to be the pressing and not the production work.
