(Central Station/MRA) Two discs. One is unmixed. The other is mixed by DJ JoSH. The back of the cd is clearly marked mixed and unmixed for those who really don’t like their radio edits mashed beyond recognition. As one would presume – first cd is sugar sweet and second cd is for past 1am. CD1: Unmixed Contains all the good stuff that you’ve heard out there on the dancefloor and in radioland. Goodluck by Basement Jaxx gets done over by Tim Deluxe – donchoo worry, it IS that mix that you hear every Saturday night! Sunrise is electrified from housey chill to become more fluffed up in stronger beats. And what is gay without the quintessential Kylie? Slow is in original format and offers up a slow sexy beat to practice all that nasty dirty dancin’! Sophie Ellis-Bextor Yes Sir, I Can Boogie is totally over-the-top-pop. Try to fast forward the intro to get to the body of the track – which is not as bad as the crap that it seems to be. This song is dedicated to my one and only GBF – Duncan. This godawful track is for you, darling! The Hazzards churns out the cheese with Gay Boyfriend – highly reminiscent of Hi-5! Please, shoot me now. Actually, not press the fast forward button. Brock Hilton’s Endless Summer is a bit like The Beach Boys meets the new millenium. Destination Unknown (what, the toilets? It better have a lock!) by Gaudino feat. that sweet diva, Crystal Waters is fantabulous. It’s all in the hip movement, kids – apparently it shows how enthusiastic you are in bed… The chart blitzers are all here – Room 5 feat. Oliver Cheatham Make Luv, Channel 7’s brand new spankin summer theme (oh yeah… it’s winter now) – Solitaire’s I Like Love is here, as is Deepest Blue (squared), So Much Love To Give by Rule’s Rethink and that swash-buckling Benny Benassi with Satisfaction. Other house hits include: Stand Back by Linus Loves (such an uplifting track for sad lyrics) – actually, I love the extreme 80s feel – and a bit of trance is injected with the supremely awesome As The Rush Comes by Motorcycle. CD2: Mixed I don’t know what is the deal with Gia by Despina Vandi – I find it positively despicable. Pass me some Valium please before I ebb into aural hell. I luv luv luv Tom Novy so I was a bit excited to hear what mix he conjured from his own track Without Your Love. This ‘late night’ mix is pretty cool – choppy house. Very Mardi Gras. Slow it down with Paul Van Dyk feat. Hemstock & Jennings – this track offers awesome trance/electro with Nothing But You. Feels like an ad for travelling the adventurelands of La Nouvelle Zelande! The trance steps up a notch with a very good track call Renaissance by Arctica. The hard beats of 2am come in thanks to Flava by Christos. The current song that empitomises commercial trance is given a chance to shine – Do You Wanna Dance by Tiffany Gayle. Sorry, I need earmuffs. Press forward. I do like Ultrabeats Pretty Green Eyes – again, methinks it is due to my sad eighties upbringing… it reminds me of the good ol’ times when I was an little tucker. Well, I might regain my reputation by admitting that I do like Oxygen’s Am I On Your Mind? Lovely lovely indeed. This mix is very relaxing. Be prepared to go get a drink otherwise you might find that suddenly there’s not much for your feet to move you and find yourself stranded in the middle of the makeshift dancefloor in your lounge. Pump it up with Overload by Voodoo & Serrano – Space Deejayz mix is really cool. I like. And it all ends with a blast from the past – Mr ATB shows us the Long Way Home which is very appropriate. Very smooth, DJ JoSH. Smooth as skin, oil, lube, ...! And lets take the topic right into the gutter!
