Ahhh yes, Mr ATB is back again, the man who has been well recognised with his guitar loops that he uses within his trancey sounds comes back at us with his second album named ‘Two Worlds’, a very aptly named album and by the end of this review, you will know why.
During the end of 1999 and start of 2000, the whole world was dancing to his amazing song, ‘9 PM (Till I Come)’. This year he is back trying to gain his top positions with this album and single ‘The Summer’. Reaching top 10 places in many of the European charts already with ‘The Summer’, the tune is one of the highlights on this 20 track double CD.
Andre Tanneberger aka ATB and one half of SQ1 (Sequential One), has worked as a remixer for several artists including Moby, Enigma, William Orbit, Taucher, Gouryella and Blank & Jones. Now however, he is back in the limelight himself again with this new collection of cruisey trance tunes, a slightly different ATB style but one still that will become popular throughout the World no doubt. This album even has an ambient feel to it at times, very refreshing and relaxing.
ATB is used to topping the charts throughout the World, going gold and platinum and selling millions of copies, he never ceases to amaze with his very good follow ups. ATB has created more than a worthy follow up to his previous 4 hit singles (‘9PM’, ‘Don’t Stop’, ‘Killer’ and ‘The Summer’) with the newie ‘The Fields of Love’ featuring York which is already doing huge things in Europe and the clubs around the globe.
CD 1 on this album is known at ‘The World of Movement’ as it carries some more uplifting and moving cruisey trance tunes. It opens off with ‘See U Again’ which is a top tune, definitely shows sign of a slightly new sound from ATB. The latest singles, ‘The Summer’ and ‘The Fields of Love’ featuring York are on this side aswell. You will also find on this side, some ATB collaborations with vocalist Heather Nova on two tracks that are quite chilled and almost ballad like. Also ‘Let U Go’ features The Wild Strawberries and looks to be ATB’s next single as already there have been some remixes made for this song. It still carries on with ATB’s familiar guitar loops and strings but sounds quite fresh and is overall a good effort.
‘Bring It Back’ may shock a few as it comes on rather funky and yes in the end I would call it Funky House, a very nice and very original effort here. ‘Fall Asleep’ seems quite cruisey until a hard house/hard trance synthy sound appears although it still doesn’t make it a hard tune as the synth element which is only used at times still works with this sweet tune. We end off with the, at times analogue sounding and original work of ‘Klangwelt’. Still on this CD, there’s nothing that really ventures into epic or hard trance territory, just some sweet, drifty tunes.
CD2 is known as ‘The Relaxing World’ and this title is very deserved. A bunch of ambient, chilled and very cruisey sounds and grooves are displayed here. Some interesting tunes to check out here are ‘Timeless’ which has something to do with Twin Peaks but I don’t know what, ‘Enigmatic Encounter’ with Enigma which has a bit of a breaky feeling to it and the ‘Ibiza Influence Version of The Summer’. Also you can find on this CD the videos of both ‘The Summer’ and ‘The Fields of Love’
Two Worlds by ATB is now out through the Bang On! division of Central Station Records.
