Believe the Hype, The Avalanches have arrived with what may be the most creative and best artist Album to surface in the past 12 Months.

As somebody who prefers their music on the banging side I was initially slow to pick up on the somewhat hidden treasure that is “Since I left You” the full length work from Melbourne group The Avalanches.

Once I purchased and listened to it though I was quick to realise the hype was right and this group are seriously talented. The album comprises an eclectic mix of tracks coming together with more samples than you can poke the proverbial stick at. Sounds as far ranging as 1950’s cartoons, Old movies, Wu Tang Clan songs and farmyard animals are tweaked and added to undeniably funky beats to create what at times could justifiably be called brilliant pieces of music.

From the Hip Hop styling of “Avalanche Rock” & “Flight Tonight” which features Saian Supa Crew to the soulful sounds of “Electricity” & “Since I Left You” right through to the brilliance of Australia’s number one turntabilist Dexta on the Triple J favourite “Frontier Psychiatrist” each track is unique in style but still of the highest quality. I would not be overly surprised if in years to come this is looked release is looked on as highly as the work of Daft Punk.

If you are a fan of the work of Daft Punk or Orbital or just a fan of quality music I recommend that you get your hands on some of Australia and possibly the worlds finest.
