(Fabric/DMC)
Fabric are not only one of the finest club’s in the world, but their CD series is now becoming legendary. The latest cab off the rank is one for DnB fans FABRICLIVE. 18 sees two of drum n bass’ most exciting DJ’s Andy C and DJ Hype come together to combine their impressive talents for the first time and features current favourite tracks and fresh exclusives
Londons DJ Hype first gained experience as part of the Heatwave soundsystem, he mixed reggae, hip hop and house before moving into drum and bass. A DnB pioneer, he sets a frantic pace here with exclusive forthcoming tracks from his Ganja label and his special edits of Benny Blanco and JB. Hypes highlights include Future Prophecies “Dreadlock” and J Majik & Wikaman’s stripped “Swallow Ya Soul”.
At 16 Andy C created Ram Records, the succesful drum n bass label he still runs Ram’s back catalogue is impressive and features collaborations with people like Ant Miles, Randall and Shimon. He subs in for the second half takes over to mix up tracks by J Majik, Moving Fusion, Ed Rush & Optical, DJ Fresh, and his own Ram Trilogy moniker
He brings his more rolling sound with Moving Fusion & Fierce’s “Mysterons” and moves on from there with Ed Rush, DJ Fresh and Zen all in the mix. The beginning is fierce, and bassy and the end is, smooth and of course - bassy.
For those not fully engrossed into the Drum & Bass scene this is a nice not too heavy introduction to Drum n Bass. Those who like their DnB a little heavier, harder and darker may find it a little on the light side, this album may not be groundbreaking but it’s fun, has fantastic energy and overall a solid release that is definitely one for all friends of Drum & Bass.
