(Ultra Records/Stomp)

Many a superlative has been used to describe David Morales, and each is as deserving as the next, for very few artists have consistently embraced the very essence that is house music as Morales has. With a list of accomplishments long enough to stretch around Ibiza several times and back, 2 Worlds Collide is the first solo album from Morales in some time.

Opening with a hint of the Love Boat theme, Here I am is an all encompassing summer signature track. Not being content however to sit still for too long, Holdin’ On sees the beats getting harder and dirtier, whilst reverbing synths and depeche mode-esque warbles pave the way for Can’t Forget. A cheeky bassline is all that is needed to keep your hips in overdrive throughout Better That You Leave and 2 Worlds Collide will have you twirling with confidence around the dancefloor. Take My Luv closes proceedings in the simple and stylistic manner we have come to expect from Morales.

Vocals feature heavily throughout, mainly from new comers to the scene; Lea-Lorien, Tamra Keenan, Angela Hunte and Vivian Sessoms. All in all, 2 Worlds Collide is a lovely summer album to add to the collection. I think I was hoping for a slight deviation from the status quo, but as the saying goes, ‘If it ain’t broken…
