(Mondo/Sony)

Once again we see Channel 10 put another new comer into the charts through commercial TV. This funky track comes from the DT8 Project a.k.a. Darren Tate/Danny Kirsch Project with vocals performed by Rob Li and Erire Obano. Both artists are now fairly well known within the dance music scene as DJs and producers, and they’ve lived up to their names with this release. A five track single featuring five different mixes of The Sun is Shining (Down on Me).

Track 1, the original mix sums up the sounds and style that this track represents, and so if you’re just in for a quick flick through tracks listen to track 1. It is also the original Channel 10 featured mix, so for all you TV buffs that love that ad, put track 1 on repeat. Although the most recognised track from the five, it is probably the worst one on the single!

Track 2 is just the original 12” and although it does sound a little better it still is only an extended mix of track 1 and thus doesn’t rate that much better. Although a lot faster than the previous, track 3; the Darren Tate remix has more of a trance sound and is a great deal better. The vocals seem to be less of a focus and thus more emphasis is placed into the actual sound of the music.

Track 4 is the electro house remix and is produced by Andy Morris. Some of the sounds in this track are slightly dark and obscure and thus it comes across a little more progressive. Although, it isn’t too long before those familiar vocals come in and destroy the feel that had been building!

By far the best track on the single is track 5, the Acoustic Mix. It is the only track with the right mood for the emotion that the vocals try to portray; bright, happy, grateful and optimistic. This one is a touch slower and is something you would more hear at a jazz club or bar, but as mentioned the only accurate portrayal of the mood.
