(CR2 Records/EMI)
Eric Prydz’s first few releases were under the Credence label, until the absolutely massive Call on Me was taken up by Ministry of Sound’s imprint Data records, and Prydz’s has never looked back.
One of the biggest anthems of 2004, without a doubt, Call on Me made its way on to almost every radio station and dance floor during the year – and this time he teams up with Steve Angello for another slice of pop-dance. Woz Not Woz takes a very simple 4/4 house formula, and while not being as instantly recognisable or as big-room sounding as Call on Me, it’s stretched out disco chords and guitar bass line give it a summer anthem vibe.
There are two versions included on the vinyl, imaginatively titled Version 1 and Version 2, but they are very similar. The latter remix has a slight effect over the chords, but it is essentially the same track twice on the package. Nothing spectacular or innovative here – but definitely a track for any fan of funky house.
