(CR2/EMI)

Danny Howells, Dick Trevor and Erire present a nice soulful funky house release with attitude. This unique disco-flavoured production covers a lot of styles across the five mixes included in the double vinyl pack that traverse various incarnations of the tunes strong vocal, piano lines and summer beats. Danny Howells is a name synonymous with progressive house and recently placed at no 9 in the world’s Top 100 Djs poll. After having played all over the world at the best clubs he is now moving his energy towards success as a producer working with the likes of Deep Dish, and his collaborations with Dick Trevor which have all been highly acclaimed. Erire’s talented vocals and song writing skills add an extra dimension to the trio as showcased in this release.

This release presents itself in the form of a double vinyl pack with sexy yellow and orange covers. The orange cover contains the Original and the Shapeshifters Mix whilst the yellow cover contains the Mync Project Mix, Hoxton Whores Remixes and Shapeshifters Dub. The Original Mix presents a relentlessly funky bassline that meets meets some cool guitar cuts together with the soulful diva-esque vocals of Erire and a tough house beat. On the flipside, the Shapeshifters Mix provides a take on the track which follows the characteristics of their other huge hits of late presenting a fun classic funky house sound. They add in some stabbing pianos, and sex up the groove of the track to make for a very nice mix of the tune.

The second vinyl presents another three takes on the Original starting with the Mync Project Mix. This mix slams in a nice tribal start amongst the crisp percussion and well placed vocal cuts. Next up is the Hoxton Whores Remixes who take this mix in a funky electro direction, however they ram in a heap of vocals amidst a good bassline and solid percussion. Lastly is the second offering from the Shapeshifters in the form of a Dub mix which is very similar to their other mix only this one contains less vocal cuts.

Overall, this is an excellent house single that epitomises the funky summer house sound. This is backed by quality takes on the original from the Shapeshifters, Hoxton Whores and the Mync Project which all provide an alternative mix that dabbers in tougher, tribal or more vocal directions. This release is more on the funky side when considering Danny Howells previous releases however it is a quality tune that will no doubt be played at many house oriented parties over the summer. The highlight mixes in my opinion are the Original Mix and the Shapeshifters Dub for fans of more commercial oriented house.
