1. Kid Kenobi vs Pocket Remix
2. Future Funk Squad Remix

Over the last year we have watched the relatively unknown producer and DJ Mylo has shot to absolute dance scene stardom. Having released the track in November 2002 he has done a heap of remix and production work since then including his artist album titled ‘Destroy Rock and Roll’. The single was originally released as part of the limited ‘Paris 400’ EP last year, ‘Drop the Pressure’ has without doubt slowly become the electronic anthem of the year, and in my opinion was the official song of the last three Fuzzy festivals I have been to with multiple plays per day each time.

This single presents the chance to finally retain the familiarity yet hear a change to the track with a couple of fresh mixes from Australia’s own Kid Kenobi teaming together with Pocket for a huge break beat extravaganza and a funky driving work over by Future Funk Squad. The Kid Kenobi vs Pocket Remix is a great remix of this tune that will no doubt cop a beating at breaks festivals over summer. The mix starts with some nice deep bass sounds and a cleaner filtered version of the vocals so instantly it has quite a different sound. Nice clean and crisp beats push along through the cleverly cut up samples, whilst a cool background synth drives it along nicely. Great remix which keeps the familiar characteristics yet sounds different at the same time.

The Future Funk Squad Remix starts off on a breakbeat tip but then develops into a much funkier and more driving mix. There is a minimal use of the original vocals and a heap of twisted up samples thrown in for good measure. However it doesn’t seem to have the impact and fresh vibe that the Kid Kenobi vs Pocket Remix exudes. Overall two very good breakbeat mixes of this tune for those who are tiring of original mix after several months of its presence in a high number of breaks and house sets. Excellent production and some interesting takes on the original. As an aside the the Kid Kenobi remix also appears on the Ministry of Sound 2005 Annual so you can also check it out on that album.
