(Destined/EMI)
After producing “Can You Feel” under the moniker of Sholan in 2003, I hadn’t heard much of Matt Schwartz. The track was B-grade and made is onto a few similar compilations. But now Schwartz is back with a classy cutting end production that covers a lot of bases.
The Original Mix; a part broken beat, part 4×4 beat introduces us to the track. Into the first break down listeners are greeted a rather large uplifting strings riff. This builds back into the track which has now taken on a broken beat structure. From here a subtle yet stinging electro-infused riff engulfs the track. The tracks primary mid-track breakdown is as you would expect, it builds slightly and were into the latter stages of the track. The uplifting strings and subtle electro riff weave through the outro of the track, building nicely towards to end. The track would be well positioned as a filler in a progressive break set, or a good joiner from 4×4 to broken beats.
Nu-Electro Dub opens with your typical 4×4 beat, but it’s much tougher than the original. The tracks presence is immediately obvious, once again a subtle electro riff resides under the surface, but in this mix, the electro riff builds and really dominates the track. The body of the track is characterised by the heavy drum / clap beat and lush rumbling bassline, non-cheesy electro riff and a host of wicked top-end hi-hats. This mix is a very respectable progressive / house / electro crossover.
If you enjoy your house music on the on a tougher more progressive tip and are feeling the electro-infused fever sweeping the world then check out this release. I like it!
