(Vinyl Pusher/Shock)
Remix maestro Tom Neville has done it again, and the result this time is one of the most memorable dirty, sleazy trashy house records of recent times. Neville has made quite a name for himself in the past couple of years with outstanding remixes for the likes of Moloko, Mylo and Kelis, and more recently with his production work. Neville’s sassy electro stylings are the perfect foil for the boofhead macho rhymes courtesy of Romeo (So Solid Crew).
For all intents and purposes the Neville remix is the definitive version of this track, but in a questionable attempt to cover all bases, there are a swag of alternate versions included on this release. The In My Hummer Radio Edit and Drastic and T.L mix sit squarely in mediocre “urban” territory, the Mauve remix has funky house covered, and there is even the Ayaash Arabian Mix to keep the middle eastern pop fans happy. All are inconsequential in the extreme. Even the funkiest white man alive (aka Ali B) fails to excite, giving the track a fairly standard breaks treatment.
It is Neville’s mix (of which 2 versions are included) which is the clear star here. Having been championed by the likes of John Course, Mark Dynamix and Grant Smillie among others, expect this track to appear on commercial radio airwaves very soon.
