(Central Station/MRA)

The title of this CD comes from a phenomenon that begun two years ago in Ibiza; a party called Lashed. Her constant performance at clubs too long to list with attendance of massive proportions has made Lisa Lashes one of the world’s top female DJs, and the only female to reach the top ten in the DJs Mag Top 100.

Disc 1 kicks off with a very percussive track which lacks a little melody but really sets the mood for the compilation. The use of flanger brings in “Loops & Tings” Marco V vs. Jens, the next track, which also happens to be my favorite on disc 1. The track has a really techno feel but with an awesome 4 beat breakdown which has a very simple but so effective piano sample. If you get a chance, listen to the piano sample and the effects that have been used, it really fits great with this track.

The next track worth a mention would have to be “Adagio for Strings”, a track that in my opinion has been remixed way too many times now, but this one still is a great remix from Steve Hill vs. Technikal. A lot more progressive and synthesized, as always a great track and surprisingly fitting the mood of the compilation well. This mixes into “Green Jam” by Vinylgroover & the Red Hed, a fairly dull track until the breakdown when it hits with a big build up.

Track 7, “Neverland” by Anne Savage & Ingo, is a lot less subtle then those prior and those to come, this one really stands out (but not in a good way). “Osaris” by Ingo & Lee Pasch follows and sounds fantastic relative to the last. This track has a lot more melody with a big synth and an awesome breakdown. Some other favorites to mention are “Music is the Drug” track 11 and “Bring on the Noise” by K90, both great tracks with plenty of drums and melodies. Listen out for the curious chords used in Bring on the Noise, definitely not fifths.

The second disc starts with a lot more pace than the previous; I love the fat synth in the breakdown of “H20” by Nick Rowland. This track mixes flawlessly into “Fuk’d in the Ass” another killer track with big percussion and a very technical melody.

A disappointing part of disc 2 was track 3, “Playing with Knives” by BK - totally destroying the mood that the former have just established. This one sounds like a 1990s pop/reggae track on speed… poor effort. It’s not until track 8, “Hallucination” by The Edison Factor that the mood is restored. The remaining 7 songs on disc 2 stay at about the same quality and never really get back to that initial sound created in the first couple.

On a whole the compilation really shows of the faultless talent of Lisa Lashes as a DJ. Very clean mixes, with no clashing beats, and no clashing melodies. With that said the small amount of melodies present on the compilation in a sense allow you to look forward to what’s next. All in all, this is a decent compilation from Lashes and one that a lot of the high energy crowd will enjoy by quality of sound and names.
