(Sony BMG)
I’m not a massive hip hop fan, so you’ll have to take this review not from the point of an australian hip-hop expert. However I do genuinely like this track, the lyrics are well written and the chorus is catchy! I am a bit baffled as to why it hasn’t been thrashed all over the Js and the like, but in saying that the main reason for taking the CDR was to listen to what Poxymusic could do with the track as I’m fast becoming a fan of their work.
The Poxymusic remix certinally does justice to the original version. Poxy have dubbed the track into a dirty electro breaks remix that, should be, if it’s not already, setting dancefloors alight around the country! The intro is well contstructed with the skit lyrics off the original, however if you haven’t heard the original you might be left a little confused about what is going on… Moving on, the track uses some pretty classic synths and a very dirty bass line and melody. Poxy have used the original concepts of the track well and I feel the breakdown is their strongest point, warping the vocals and creating a somewhat eerie feeling before kicking into the main chorus line. This really makes the track above the norm for me. The end of the track is a little week if anything, but for DJs this isn’t a realy problem.
All up I’d give the original 3 and the remix 3.5 outta 5… I would be pretty happy to hear this track on in the clubs!
