With a heavy-weight production team behind her, with the likes of Ryan Raddon, Tim Schumarker and Andrew Kapner, this CD reads like an OM role call of hit producers and DJs.  Hence, Colette’s debut release has that OM sound with many of the tracks being produced and written by OM’s big man of house Ryan Raddon, aka Kaskade.  Full of endless beats and deep melodies together with a lyrical entourage that will seduce even the most dedicated of cynics.

The opening and title track ‘Feelin’ Hypnotised’ has a deep beat and soulful lyrics from Colette with subject matter being fairly obvious as most of the tracks indicate.  With a heavy soul influence a number of tracks bounce almost acidically and hop along with a deep beat that boarders on the blippy and electronic.  However, the best tracks on this release of thirteen are the more electro driven tracks like ‘What You Want’ and ‘The One’ that employ a blippy electro beat and downbeat samples of acoustic guitars, electronic blips and occasional electric guitar samples filling it all in.

No-one these days can make an entirely solid house release, with Colette’s debut the subject matter of the lyrics doesn’t change and by the sixth track it does become a little tiresome.  I’ve been listening to house for years but every track doesn’t have to be about love and sex does it? Oh well, on the upside the tracks are technically superb and in some tracks the vocals work almost too well like in ‘Our Day’ or the big bass, acoustically driven ‘A little More’.

This release is for true emotional house heads who love their female vocalists or if you’re still in love with the commercially driven OM label, whatever pushes your buttons Colette’s big bass and harmonic vocals make this release a head turner, give it a look!
