(Om/Stomp)

Taking inspiration from the serial killer in Silent of the Lambs line about “putting the lotion in the basket”, Greenskeepers’ recent single Lotion has been winning them more mainstream fans and radio airplay around the world, much more than what they ever could have imagined looking back to their early swing jazz releases.

Here, Lotion’s electro tinged, David Byrne -esque vocals and pop harmonies, has seen this track on high rotation on Triple J, usually the home of Aussie hip-hop and indie rock. Greenskeepers’ new album, Pleetch, from which the single Lotion is taken, sees them move into more accessible mainstream territory from the early Chicago jazz house beginnings.

Unfortunately after a massive tour of the US in recent months, Greenskeepers’ put off their appearance to play at the Digital festival in Melbourne and other dates, and are rumoured to be playing here later this year with the full recently expanded eight piece line up.

If you like the track, then you’re probably best of heading out to buy a copy of the album Pleetch, as the remix on the single, doesn’t really offer any major distinguishable difference from the original cut to make it worthwhile.
