Darren Emerson started ‘Underwater Records’ in 1994, primarily to release music for his mates but fortunately for us this ex Underworld member also has a penchant for creating that perfect party moment. Back now with the fourth episode in the ‘Underwater’ series, Emerson teams up with ‘King Kong’ front man ‘Sharam Jey’ for a wickedly bad ass journey into sound.

A double cd affair, Emmerson takes control of the first and wastes absolutely no time in getting you to your feet. Opening with the growling bass of Emerson’s own ‘Hard4slow’, this fast becomes a trip for lovers of the bassline. On the whole it is a dirty twisted (‘Dirty Bumf’), noisy rock infested (‘Fast Track’) regal rave up of house in all its forms. Superbly paced, you will find it difficult to control your excitement as one piece of dance floor mayhem swiftly follows the other. No fillers here, but gems include the ever so nasty ‘Instrumental’ from Mode Hookers, Joel Mull’s sonically twisted ‘Fantastish’ and Emerson’s richly sampled ‘I Can’t Hear You’.

Current man about ye olde England town, ‘Sharam Jey’ continues proceedings on the second cd but takes it down a notch or two with the slower, though still heavy groove ‘Body Language’. However it is not long before the mayhem resurfaces with the steely technoid edge of ‘Feel Alright’ featuring Sandy Mill. Diving head first into the highly circuit affected comes ‘Closer’ and ‘Zdarlight’ and fans of a little four to the floor action will be well pleased with Sharam Jey’s ‘Feel Nobody’. Clearly saving the best for last the 2 closing tracks ‘Bullet Train’ by Plump DJs and Freestylers’ ‘Boom Blast’ will rock you to the very core, both are gut wrenchingly hard, insanely loud and on the wrong side of too much fun.

For those after basslines that make you go mmm, take my advice, purchase this cd, warn the neighbours and let the mayhem begin. ‘Underwater Episode04’ is everything you want from the best ever night out and more.
