(Vinyl Pusher/Shock)
Soulchip’s track, Let’s Rock was originally recorded at the start of this century and has been re-pressed and remixed a number of times since. This time around the label Vinyl Pusher has given 6 remixes from Australia and abroad.
Nathan G’s Groovehunter Rocking is a simple, pared down version of this 4/4 beat disco style house track. Working more on the diva vocals and backing chorus there is a riff that in previous generations would’ve been a distorted guitar. With a tamped down drum track this is simply decent house.
Filippo J’Nitti’s Main Room Mix is a touch more upbeat, this one playing around with the vocals a bit more and allowing the instrument sounds take over. This doesn’t take away from the vocals and gives the song a little more intensity.
Grant Smillie and Ivan Gough, two Melbourne DJ’s give it their edge with the TV Rock Dirty Funker remix, this a slowed down version with a fat bass sound underlying the beat. This is a real ‘electronic’ sounding electronic track.
Phuture Grooves have their Housedup & Spatout remix beginning with a wobbly funk sound. This track sounds closer to techno with various samples running all over the shop while the vocal is mostly removed from its disco beginning. This is the more ‘noisy’ of the remixes so far.
Simon Christopher does a Short Break mix, at only 5 minutes it is the shorter of the lot, the average running up at about 6 minutes 45. The breakbeat on this one makes it accessible to the breaks fans who always love to play with house tracks and make them their own.
Finally there is the Tom Novy vs. Eniac Soulchip Club mix. This version has gained attention on label Vinyl Pusher’s inaugural mix album, Addictions. Their reworking is minimal and techy, the vocal allowed to reverberate above an increasing beat. As various percussive elements are introduced the song becomes so much more.
