(Music For Dreams/Creative Vibes)

A Danish television series, ‘They made History’ sees journalist Steffen Kretz interview some of the worlds most influential figures (Madeleine Albright, Benazir Bhutto, Frederik de Klerk, Shimon Peres, Desmond Tutu and Viktor Yushchenko) about the world changing decisions they made and how they came to make them. Accompanying this series is a stunning soundtrack produced by Danish music collective ‘Bliss’.

Around an hour in length, ‘They Made History’ is not the type of album that can be picked apart track by track, rather, it works as a complete piece that gently unfolds scene by scene. Moving at a slow, calm, but highly engaging pace, Bliss effectively meld jazz, classical, Arabic, African and Asian sounds with evocative vocals and intricate layers of electronica. From serene and seductive to uncertain and sombre, there is an overwhelming level of depth and emotion here, all of which reflects the seriousness of the subject matter that it is accompanying.

Hailing from Denmark (Steffen Aaaskoven, Marc George), Sweden (Alexandra Hamnede) and Guinea-Bissau, West Africa (Salvador “Tchando” Embalo), Bliss have truly set the pace for original, sensitive and very cool, underground chill-out. ‘They Made History’ is pure indulgence deserving of some private time and space.

Nobody has hearted this, be the first Be the first!
