“They Don’t Know” is the follow up to Savage’s single “Moonshine”. It’s produced by American Sol Messiah, who has delivered the goods for the likes of Jay-Z and D12. Aaradhna, already with a NZ top 1, lends her lyrical style to this track.

The first thing which hit me was that this did not sound Australiasian at all. Savage’s sound is more US than down under but seems to blend surprisingly well with the track. The first two mixes are 4/4 offerings by Electro Funk Lovers (Mr Timothy and John Course), with Savage’s catchy rhyme’s working well with Aaradhna’s vocals. It has a very modern feel with a bassline and groove similar to many modern electro house productions. Plenty of electro stabs which kept me happy. The rap and the hooks of the track seem to compliment each other nicely with the end result being something likely to get a lot of radio time. Though I felt Aaradhna’s vocals should have featured more with the rapping a bit overbearing at times.

The second mix is where it’s at. Bass Kleph’s broken beats seem to gel better with the vocals in a more natural way. There is still use of the squeeky bass line with a long attack to create a nice movement. Aaradhna’s vocals are more prominent and give the remix a different perspective on the first two. Bass Kleph’s style of fuckin’ the groove is on display and makes it a great listen but probably not dancefloor material.
