Pitching in on the current wave of disco-house music, Warren Clarke has produced a track that might be having success due to his name rather than the quality of the track. I’m actually not very impressed with this track. Basically this is the concoction for a house hit: discodiva-esque voice, smooth verses, plenty of beats, a few twirly noises in there and a bit of brass and drum action. Unfortunately, this song just doesn’t stand out amongst the crowd.
Like so many house hits, it’s all about a girl singing about how her lover can just piss off because she’s better off without him and she’s gonna get over him – so humpffhhh! (Add a flick of the hair in there as well.) Of course, there’s that universal like “you’re in and out ‘o my life” (like the title of ATFC’s house floorkiller ‘In and out of my life’ featuring Onephatdeeva.)
The chorus isn’t too bad, I’m probably not giving enough credit. ATFC’s club mix is interesting: plenty of carousel music, acoustic vocals and the lovely violin sample…
Warren Clarke is, though, a respected DJ so I don’t mean to dig in to say that he’s not stunning the feet on the floor, because he’s been producing house and garage for about 9 years now. He has played in the likes of Ministry of Sound, Slinky and Berlin’s Love Parade. But yeah… while this track will go down well it just doesn’t do anything special.
